more more more more more more

work work work work work work. no time for too much work!
lets see whats happened over the course of 2 weeks.
1. lots of fun remodeling bad production assets at real work.
2. dead space came out o_o more than too much awesome
3. we got to animate a ball bounce
4. my excitement pose was NOT up to snuff
5. I have revised my excitement pose

Mentor Dimos was correct, the new pose is 1000000 times better

I can in fact remember every ball bounce I've ever animated, and sadly this actually only makes twelve. I have only ever animated twelve bouncing balls ever. Oh well this coming week we get to do a heavy vs. light!

whEWWWW long time

It has been quite a while since I made a post before, this is what happened. Summer sadly ended along with my internship at Hatchling, it was great times I will remember forever (maybe I'm allowed to post some of the work I did later on here?). A few weeks ago my laptops hard drive went along with 8 years of files spanning 4 separate computers, and now I have nothing X_X though I am trying to look at it as sort of a fresh start.

Yesterday was the first day of Animation Mentor and my goodness it is crazy. So many of you are always messaging everyone else all the time so much I'm trying to figure out when work actually gets done (just joking o_o). So far we've had hours of introduction videos and orientations to go through and we've been given a rig to get used to posing one, here is how I feel about it

that is correct! I want an FK right arm, though really I just want it to say I have it. This character is not going to be animated so its not horribly important, but its weird that the left arm has FKIK but know option to and the right arm just has an IK, it feels incomplete and unbalanced to me. What is missing and important for posing are shoulders.
I am surprised we are suppose to pose this thing without the ability to manipulate its shoulders, absolutely bananas!

I am going to post a little "Alex doesn't really know what hes doing but pretends to" spiel about posing in just a bit.

ps sorry for the bad rendering, I will never pretend I know what I'm doing when it comes to that o_o.

DOoin

HEYyyyyyyy heres whats going on with me! My name is Alex Knoll and I am currently a 3rd year undergrad at the Savannah College of Art and Design for animation. However, I've landed myself into a fairly coincidental situation where I'll be postponing my final year for a chance of a life time at two separate industry jobs and more schooling (go figure). I've decided to use this blog for multiple purposes, mostly just to keep things updated and also to keep a record for myself.

This summer I'm out in Portsmouth, NH at Hatchling studios. We work on small commercial projects and such, however here I am merely an intern, but the credit is still worth it.

As soon as September begins and the Hatchling gig ends, I will be heading down to Buffalo, NY instead of going back to school (sad times, but again absolutely worth it). I will be filling a 9 month temp job working on the Planet Heroes series put on by the Fisher-Price guys.

And most excitingly of all I have been lucky enough to get into the online school for animation, Animation Mentor, which I will also be starting in September and absolutely can not wait for!!!!

SO! I'll keep this updated on my work and hm blah etc. yeah.
